Sofia Roller, Au.D. is a Maryland native who grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. Dr. Roller’s passion for hearing healthcare stems from her personal experience; she was born with genetic single-sided deafness and grew up with family members who are also deaf and hard-of-hearing. She received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University where she continued on to achieve her clinical doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.). One of Dr. Roller’s favorite memories in grad school is teaching a sign language course and Deaf culture to JMU college students. She is currently a fellow member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and the president of the Maryland Academy of Audiology. She has served as the MAA convention chair (2018-2019) and MAA Member-at-Large. Dr. Roller is passionate about early intervention for congenital hearing loss, improving quality of life for all ages through advanced hearing technology, and advocacy/accommodation for those with hearing loss. When not at work, she is probably playing sports, doing her nails, browsing for indoor plants, trying a new restaurant or recipe, or dreaming about the beach!
Dr. Roller has also enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experiences outside of the clinic; she was featured on the news explaining the Yanny vs Laurel controversy and has been a guest speaker for the “On The Ear” podcast.
